The summertime means that it is time to get outdoors and discover what the central Ohio has to offer. We have explored some of our favorite suburbs in central Ohio. Not only are these communities in close proximity to great dining, entertainment and affordable housing; they all offer quality living experiences for all ages. Here are some of the suburbs that made our short list.

Gahanna:

Gahanna has grown considerably over the last 20 years and has becomes a premier living location for young professionals, families and empty nesters in the central Ohio area. Much of this growth is due to the completion of the Creekside Project, which is a scenic park built around Big Walnut Creek. This beautiful area offers a number of activities including; paddle boat rides, fishing and the annual Gahanna Creekside Blues & Jazz Festival. In addition to these family friendly activities, Gahanna also has a very diverse dining scene. For example, Arepazo offers up some of the suburbs best Latin cuisine and is conveniently located right next to Creekside in Olde Gahanna. Other great restaurants include; Mr. Sushi, Lola & Giuseppe’s Trattoria and Golden Delight Bakery. Another perk about Gahanna is it’s very close to Easton Town Center which is only a short drive away.

Dublin/Powell:

These two suburbs share a boarder along the Scioto River and offer a great living experience for families young and old. With excellent schools to choose from and no shortage of living options, Dublin/Powell remains one of the best places to reside in central Ohio. One of the biggest perks about living in this suburban area is the easy access to one of the nation’s best Zoo and Aquariums. Jack Hanna’s Columbus Zoo and Aquarium offers an amazing experience to witness some of the planets most diverse animal species right here in central Ohio. In the spring and summer months, the Columbus Zoo also opens its doors to the connected water park, Zoombezi Bay, which offers a number of waterslides and other activities for the whole family to enjoy.

Grove City:

As a suburb of Ohio’s capital city, Columbus, residents and businesses enjoy an exceptional quality of life with the conveniences of metropolitan living and the comforts of a unique, small town. In late August, Grove City hosts, “Balloons and Tunes” which is their annual hot air balloon festival. Bring a lawn chair and blanket while enjoying the spectacular site of hot-air balloons floating at the beginning of dusk.

Pickerington:

Being one of the most affordable areas to live in central Ohio, Pickerington is a great place for people looking to make the move to the fine city of Columbus. This suburb is always putting forth the effort to go green and keep producing locally. Pickerington has one of the best farmer’s markets in central Ohio and it meets consistently throughout the summer selling the freshest produce, baked goods and crafts to the surrounding communities. If sustainability is a passion of yours and your family, Pickerington may be a perfect match for you.

We could go on and share our favorite aspects about all the suburbs of Columbus but these are some of our current favorites. We hope that you check out some of these great locations and share your personal experiences with us. On behalf of Schottenstein Real Estate Group, thank you Columbus.
