BreakfastColumbus is receiving the well-deserved reputation of a foodie city. Don’t believe us? The capital city of the buckeye state was recognized for its eating establishments in “Forbes” Travel Guide’s “Five Secret Foodie Cities.”

One of the best (and most underrated meals) is definitely brunch. What’s not to love? It falls on the weekend and combines both breakfast and lunch. After sleeping in, you can kill two birds with one stone by having a fantastic meal with your friends or family.

The toughest part about brunch is deciding where you’d like to eat. In Central Ohio, there are many strong candidates for the best brunch spots. We’ve compiled a list of the Top 10 brunch spots and found reviews from the web and various so you can hear how delicious each restaurant is. It’ll be difficult to wait until the weekend to try these spots!

  • Angry Baker
    • “I love this place. I’ve been going at least once per week since they’ve opened and I couldn’t praise it highly enough. The food is always fresh and the staff is wonderful. I suggest the smoked salmon. Also, its fall now and they have pumpkin French toast! Also, the vegan options are quite tasty.”
  • Wolfs Ridge
    • If French toast with maple bacon ice cream isn’t enough to convince you to check out this Columbus brunch spot on N. 4th Street, we’re not sure what will.
  • The Sycamore
    • You must try the Chilaquilas ($11), you don’t see them often on local menus — especially brunch menus. The Sycamore does the dish with starchy style. It starts with a ginormous supply of mutilated corn tortillas -it’s got to be five or six tortillas in the mix, to make the massive pile that supports some shredded chunks of natural-tasting chicken, sour cream and avocado. Some salsa fresca and eggs soak into the tortillas for flavor, but the very best moments are the melted chunks of queso fresco.
  • Explorers Club
    • In essence, the Explorers Club brunch is the quintessential hangover food. The flavors of the sauce tasted as if they had been slow cooked since the night before, and the sausage-and-egg combo gave it a perfect breakfast balance without feeling greasy or heavy. Service is friendly, the environment is welcoming, and the price points are affordable for the level of quality that goes into the menu.
  • Skillet
    • Rustic. Urban. Food is the description for Skillet on their website. If you are heading there for brunch, make sure to check out their delicious braised beef brisket and gold potato folded egg omelette. You won’t be let down by Skillets brunch on 410 E. Whittier Street.
  • North Star
    • With multiple locations around Columbus, you can’t go wrong with a North Star. We recommend their cloud nine pancakes. People from all over the country rave about the light ricotta pancakes served with maple syrup, and perhaps some fresh fruit.
  • Blocks
    • The best bagels in Columbus, hands down! This bagel, bakery and deli shop is a Columbus staple. If you are looking for fantastic bagels, you definitely need to check out Blocks. Don’t overlook their pizza bagel or tuna melt bagel if you needing a meal a little more on the greasy side. Blocks has locations on East Broad Street and McNaughten Center.
  • German Village Coffee House
    • A review for the German Village coffee house states, “Best breakfast in Columbus. Quaint, friendly, and great food. How a breakfast shop should be.” Another review says, “Get the breakfast sandwich. It is very good. The atmosphere and service are excellent if you like dinners.” Don’t take our word for it, the review for German Village Coffee House should be enough!
  • Matt the Miller’s
    • If you are looking for a plethora of options, the buffet at Matt the Miller’s is definitely a memorable one. From their cheesy eggs and crispy bacon to cheese pizza! Matt the Miller’s brunch on the weekend will definitely fill you up.
