Summer 2013 kicks off very soon, and it’s about time to start planning activities for you and the whole family. We’ve put together a list of our Top 6 anticipated summer activities in Columbus and hope that you will find time to check them out!

1.Park Street Festival
June 7th-8th, 2013
Summer is all about festivals and Columbus has lots of them coming your way. Kick off your festival season with Park Street Festival 2013. This is their 7th annual festival, which will feature over 35 live bands on three outdoor stages, food trucks, arts and crafts and a bar crawl throughout Park Street. Venues will include Park Street Cantina, Gaswerks, Bar Louie, Brothers and more!

2. The Columbus Arts Festival
June 7th-9th, 2013
The riverfront near Genoa Park will be transformed into a spectacular art gallery as the nation’s top artists present their work and attract art enthusiasts from all over the country. Feast your eyes on the works of over 200 nationally acclaimed artists, brought together for an experience that you won’t want to pass up. There’s something for everyone, as the festival will feature live music, activities and gourmet food.

3. Red, White & Boom
July 3rd, 2013
Red, White & Boom will take place in the heart of downtown Columbus. People gather by the masses to watch the fireworks that represent our nation’s independence. Each year, the fireworks outdo the previous, giving viewers something to look forward to. One of the best spots to watch is on the riverfront at Genoa Park, giving you a crystal clear view of the explosive fireworks. Be sure to arrive extra early to avoid slow traffic and street closings.

4. Dinosaur Island at The Columbus Zoo & Aquarium
All Summer Long
If you’ve seen any of the Jurassic Park movies, you may have dreamt of being face-to-face with real-life Dinosaurs. Well, at least the herbivores right? Regardless, The Columbus Zoo & Aquarium has a new dinosaur exhibit for the whole family. Today, scientists from across the globe are still seeking answers as to why dinosaurs became instinct over 65 million years ago. While you won’t see real-life Dinosaurs, you will have the opportunity to seek out life-sized dinosaurs if you decide to go on The Dinosaur Island Boat Ride.

5. Myth Busters at COSI
June 8th, 2013-
The Center of Science & Industry is proclaimed to be the nation’s top science museum. COSI provides an experience for the whole family, taking you through time, space and underwater. Coming this summer is Myth Busters, which will be designed to uncover myths. Can you create a canoe out of duct tape? Does toast always tend to land butter-side down? These myths and more will be explained and their mysteries will be solved.

6. The Ohio State Fair
July 24th-August 4th, 2013
The Ohio State Fair is the largest traveling fair in Columbus during the year. It features a wide array of activities to include farm animals, boating, trade shows, concerts, helicopter rides and contests. Dare to ride their many attractions to include roller coasters, Ferris wheels and more! On the menu, be sure to find some unique choices, from glazed donut burgers to fried Oreos and butter; keep a pack of TUMS on hand.
