2010 BIA Developer of the Year

The Building Industry Association (BIA) of Central Ohio has named Schottenstein Real Estate Group 2010 Developer of the Year at their annual Building Industry Awards reception held Oct. 26, 2010. This is the second BIA Developer of the Year Award for Schottenstein Real Estate Group. SREG was also awarded the esteemed designation by the BIA in 2006.
“Developer of the Year is a great honor,” said BIA Executive Director Jim Hilz. “And clearly Schottenstein Real Estate Group exemplifies leadership in our industry as a two-time Developer of the Year winner.”
Founded by Gary Schottenstein as MI Real Estate more than 35 years ago, Schottenstein Real Estate Group has built more than 20,000 rental and apartment units, more than 5000 for-sale units, and developed, marketed or managed more than twenty million square feet of commercial, retail, or office projects in Ohio, Indiana, Florida, North Carolina, Virginia, and Maryland.
In 2010, under the leadership of President Brett Kaufman, Schottenstein Real Estate Group became the top selling condominium developer in central Ohio.
“2010 has been an exceptional year for us, despite the economic challenges affecting our industry,” said Kaufman. “We have managed to surface as the new leader in condominium development sales in central Ohio and continue our growth through the addition of several new multifamily housing developments.” According to Binns Report, Schottenstein Real Estate Group was the top condo seller in central Ohio in 2010.

In addition to Developer of the Year, Schottenstein Real Estate Group was also awarded finalist for Development of the Year for Tremont Club in Hilliard, OH. And Chuck Evans, senior vice president of development and construction, was honored as Production Manager of the Year.

The BIA Building Industry Awards were established in 2005 to honor builders, remodelers, developers, developments, architects, residential designers, landscapers, subcontractors, suppliers, service providers and superintendents for outstanding and extraordinary service in the residential construction industry.
For more than 35 years The Schottenstein Real Estate Group, has developed, marketed and managed more than 10,000 for sale homes or condominiums, more than 25,000 rental units and a variety of commercial, retail and office projects in Ohio, Indiana and Florida. Schottenstein Real Estate Group was Named Developer of the Year by the Building Industry Association (BIA) in 2006.
